oh, you're such a dreamer

well yesterday i attended the "Jean Vanier Youth Conference" in toronto. i was chosen at school, along with 5 others students (joey, chris, lisa, sandra, and cara), by one of our teachers to go to this event. i was not expecting anything major at all - i actually didn't know what to expect at all. the teacher didnt give any of us information, she just gave us permission forms.
so we get there, it was at the international plaza hotel, and it was so nice. very nice. we checked in, and headed up to the second level. as soon as we got up there, we were surrounded by tons and tons of students, teachers, and other people. there were students there from all over southern ontario. it was crazy madness, but it made us all feel so important. we felt like we we part of something major - and if you ask me, it definitely was major. Jean Vanier (creator of the L'Arche communities, for people with disabilities) was actually present at this event, and to be in his presence was such an amazing feeling. he had such a powerful, and strong message to send, and i will never forget one thing he said, "My dream, is that you dream." those words will stick to me forever. and they really got me thinking about our dream big fashion show which is happening in about a month. i hope we reach our goal, and get a fair amount of money for the people in the Dominican! it's going to be awesome. anywho, we broke off into "breakout groups" and there was 95 groups in total. it was crazy, pure madness. i got to meet a few new people, and we discussed Jean's message. later, we ate some lunch, which was provided and it was actually really good. after lunch, the whole mass of students assembled together for the final questions and blessing. we got to sing happy birthday to Jean Vanier too, since he will be 80 soon. it was a sweet moment. overall, i was super glad to be chosen for this event. it was so touching, and a great experience. keep on dreaming!

kickin' it old school.

tonight in hip hop class we danced to all things old school. including the first ever major hip hop song from the studio, "scream", the dance which my sister was in. it was by far the best hip hop to come out of that studio. then we listened to some britney spears, oops! i did it again, followed up by a hilarious routine to sir mix alot's baby got back. so fun. so i think you should all watch this, just to get into the spirit.

after class, i came home and turned my itunes, which played the song interpretive labour, by the harvey sneaks project (really good song, check it out), and the music in the background is sia. which reminded me of this...

sweet videos. enjoy...

let's paint the town, a brighter shade of beige.

so this weekend was pretty productive in my opinion. on friday, i finally watched american history x. it was super good. very intense, and edward norton is awesome. the supporting actor, edward furlong was impressive as well. overall, a very powerful film.

saturday was the community paint on dee's street in toronto. our team was made of 6 people. but it was actually so intense. we slapped the paint on and covered the wall fairly quickly. while painting, i had a really great conversation with victoria about all her experiences and jobs in life. she studied journalism, which is what i would like to do. she has worked at cbc, and for the toronto sun. she also spent a year in paris as an au pair, so she can speak french too! she was super awesome. i enjoyed the conversation quite thoroughly.
at around noon, we started to get hungry, and we were eager for a break. there was a pizza place in the building we were painting, and they kept peeking out the back door and looking at us. we decided to go around and order a couple of pizzas. when they were done, the guy came out the back door and handed them to us. convenient no? the pizza was very good, and very fresh. we also got special donated coffee and croissants from daniel et daniel catering company. the croissants were to die for. soft, warm, buttery goodness.

after food, we continued painting until we finished. we finished the primer. just with that, it looked ten times better. it was a nice "putty colour" according to my dad. sunday the team continued without me, since i had math homework to finish, and a test tomorrow. wish me luck.

today i didnt do much at all. but my mom made awesome dinners, so im giving her a special mention. thanks for the food mom. those potatoes were AMAZING. so good. love youuu!

it don't matter if your black or white.

last nightttt was the black and white dance at school. school dances are so mental. it started off a little lame, because no one actually dances when they walk in, but as the night went on, it was actually pretty fun. i had a good time at least, it would have been a tad better if they had played gimme more, only because we constantly sing it at lunch. i dont even like that song, and the video was so sad to watch. poor brit. anyways, the dance was a good time. and i loved my sequined headband. i'll definitely be wearing it again. i basically stayed with derron, jimmy, diana, angelika, kristen, and kailey the whole night. we were so awesome. basically the lunch crew. word. during the dj's sets, the power kept turning off. just when everyone got pumped, the music stopped. it kind of sucked because it happened about 5 times. that was the only negative thing i'd say. they played stronger, and gold digger, plus dirt of your shoulder, and i was so happy. but then they decided to play crank that twice, oh "souljah boy". the whole group of sweaty, dancing people basically knew, and reenacted the whole dance. there was even people up on the stage. it was intense. good times though, even though i don't really enjoy that song either haha. i'm not down with all the rap "gangsta" beats. i'm so excited for formal in december, even though its a ways away. i'm stoked. !

tomorrow i'm hittin' up toronto for a little "community paint". we are revamping my sisters survey in a way. its prety exciting stuff. wooo! until next timeeee...later days!

happy campers, team bonding!

alright, so our team bonding weekend was actually very very fun. our new team is looking good, and i'm excited for our season to start. i can assure you, no one has ever experienced this much girl talk in one weekend.
morning. the most memorable moment for me, and im sure the rest of the team, was at 4 o'clock saturdaychantal bolts up in bed, she had a calf cramp. the only way she could get rid of it was to stand on it, so she jumps off of the top bunk, and she's flying in the air. i can see her shadow pass her bed. i heard a pretty messed up sound hit the ground, that definitely wasnt her. turns out she threw up as she was jumping out of the bed. i felt so bad for her, but i was half asleep. i didnt even realize it was her at first. anyways, she runs over to the garbage, and we all get up. "what the hell was that?!"

vanessa saw the whole thing, and as she said, "wow chantal you did a good job of missing all of our stuff!", i turn around only to see my bags with a nice helping of throw up on them. and my purple sweater! hah. this sounds really nasty, but believe me, all weekend we laughed about it. i felt so bad for chantal, and i really was just so happy she didnt get sick on me! that would have sucked haha. but yeah, it was actually so funny, watching her shadow jump from the bed. maybe you had to be there, but still. it was funny.

so after that ordeal, we went back to bed until wake up call at 7:15. we ate breakfast, and then set up our team goals. a bunch of trust exercises followed. they were pretty fun. hah. the only thing that sucked was the weather. i may like the rain, but it sucks to be in while you try and do highropes. it was so cold. but highropes were super fun. i did the vertical jungle gym with jackie, and ruined my hands haha. the low ropes were fun too. we definitely set a record for getting our team over the wall! woo. i love our team. we got to work on our skits after dinner, and ours ended up being hilarious. everyone laughed so much. it was great, and it was basically all amanda and vanessa. thanks girls! haha.

the 18U team said a really touching poem, so i thought it deserved a special mention. overall, good weekend, and im stoked for the season!

later days!

i love our team, even though we weren't all there in the picture! we'll get moreee.

thanksgiving part II: october heat.

thanksgiving monday was stellar. i woke up to the smell of love in the kitchen. mmmmm thanksgiving smells so good. nonno came over around 2, and we prepared for a scrumptious feast. a turkey was baking all morning, there were roasted potatoes, breaded cauliflower, 2 types of salad - one fresh from the garden- and my mom even made me my own separate stuffing, with vegetable stalk gravy. soo good. i drenched my whole plate with it. amazing. so after eating, and stuffing ourselves to the brim, mom decides to bring out the fruit. prickly pears and cantaloupe. mmmmmm. juicy red prickly pears, so tasty. after fruit came coffee and dessert. the meals never end here. nonno brought donuts, and seriously, they were so good. fresh, and soft. perfect. after dessert, nonno decided to head home. we said bye, and then after he left, me and dee headed downstairs to relax and watch some of the hills marathon happening on mtv canada today. so good. we got our daily dose of drama. dee ended up falling asleep, and then by 5:30, the parentals drove her back to the tdot. i'm happy she came home this weekend, we had a good time. so i probably won't see her again till christmas, which is sad. it will be sooner than i know....10 weeks haha. anywho, i love thanksgiving...droooool.

happy thanksgiving!

baby girrrl, i ain't got a motor boat, but i can float your boat..

good times for sure. so today, me and dee woke up, and basically ate everything that we have in this house. bagels, cheese, pizza, etc. it was lovely. the parentals went to church, but we slept in sooo yeah. we decided to get ready for nonnos early this year aha. our getting ready ritual consists of dancing for about an hour or two, and then actually getting ready a half hour before we need to leave. so we danced to kanye "stronger", twice to "the way i are", and twice to "robot rock" that was my personal favourite. we also reenacted the famous mia michaels lifts from so you think you can dance as we danced to "apologize". so good. seriously, we are awesome. so, a few examples of what we look like when we dance...

these pictures are old mind you, but some things never change. woooo.
we went to thanksgiving dinner part 1 at around 4:15, it was super good. i fell in love with these little cauliflower things, they were like so good. mmm. and i love the salad, so good. the cake was good too haha. mmmmmmmm.

part 2 tomorrow, im pretty excited. i want to make mashed potatoes..mmmmm.

until next time

rainy day magic.

what better way to start off the thanksgiving weekend than with a massive thunderstorm? i love watching the rain. it's pouring right now, the puddles got about 10 times bigger in 10 seconds. crazy. mini lakes and streams lie on the road, as cars drive by, they make splashes about 2 feet high. it's slowing down now, but the sound is still there. the water falling through the eaves trough, trickling along the house. i love it. i think the sun is trying to come out now. good afternoon mr. sun.

can't wait for dee to come home tonight. she's here for the whole weekend, woo. after this i probably wont see her till christmas. i love holidays. so warm and fuzzy. maybe i'll make apple pie today. hmm...

well, later dayssssss.
